The DJ passed away on Friday while in Muscat, Oman but he will be returned to his native Sweden

Avicii’s body is to be flown home to Sweden this week.

The late DJ passed away on Friday at the age of 28 whilst in Muscat, Oman, and it has now been confirmed that his body will be taken back to his native Sweden later this week to return to his “devastated” family.

Police confirmed to People magazine: “He is survived by his parents, two brothers and sister – who are all completely devastated.”

The cause of his death is currently unknown, but an Oman police source has said there is “no criminal suspicion of death”.

According to Sky news, the source claims two post-mortem examinations have been conducted and they ruled out any criminal suspicion.

They told the website: “We absolutely confirmed that there is no criminal suspicion of death.”

The DJ passed away age 28 in Oman yesterday

His heartbroken brother David Bergling has reportedly landed in Muscat less than 24 after the Avicii’s death, as the family “search for answers”.

According to TMZ, his hotelier brother is said to have checked into a hotel close to the Muscat Hills resort, where Avicii had been staying a week before his passing.

David is believed to have arrived there hours after the DJ’s shock death was announced.

The website states that David is hoping to find out what happened to his little brother.

While no more details about Avicii’s passing have been given, he had previously been open about his health issues.

He had suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking, and went on to have his gallbladder and appendix removed.

The star then shocked fans in 2016 when he announced he would be retiring from touring for the sake of his wellbeing.

Tributes have poured in for the late star

However, he later returned to music and one of his most recent singles was a collaboration with Rita Ora called Lonely Together.

Rita was among the stars who paid tribute to the DJ after his death was confirmed yesterday.

Other stars to mourn his loss include his close friend Nile Rodgers, Calvin Harris and pop star Dua Lipa.

Today hundreds of fans gathered in Stockholm for a memorial dance party for the DJ.

Since the announcement, pictures of the star posing with fans have emerged, with him looking happy and relaxed in the days leading up to his death.
