This jet-setting pooch is truly living the life, attending art openings and fairs at far-off destinations, hanging out at bars and restaurants, even attending operas! And he has only one condition: Mom has to be there, too.
Bert’s life, as depicted on his Instagram, is full of love and adventure, but it hasn’t always been that way. His breeder said he was “too big to sell,”and sent him to a shelter and that’s when artist Kathy Grayson saw him
photo on the pet adoption site Petfinder.
Kathy saw his photo on the pet adoption site Petfinder and felt such a strong connection that she flew out to Oklahoma and adopted him from a shelter in the small town of Sallisaw. And he was the perfect fit for Kathy.
Even if this adorable chocolate Pomeranian didn’t exactly fit the standard size for his breed, that just means there’s more of him to love. And he’s happy to share it with anybody and everybody who enters his mom’s gallery in New York City, called The Hole, where he serves as the official “art connoisseur.”
The day after she adopted him, Kathy says, “we had an opening at my art gallery with hundreds of people and a dinner and after-party. From day one, Bert was ready to join the art world!”
He turned five years old a couple months ago, and Kathy recently set him up with his own Instagram account to make it easier for his nearly 100,000 fans to keep up with his day-to-day activities (this is one seriously busy Pom!). She needed to post photos of paintings, but “people just wanted to see Bert!”
And that’s when people noticed he had a striking resemblance to a baby bear.
I mean just look at that face.
His days are filled with modeling shoots and providing critical analyses of various artworks that come through the store, but his favorite activity are all the meet-and-greets with all the patrons, many of whom stop by just to see him!
It probably won’t be long now before an artist is commissioned to paint a life-size portrait of this fluffy little cutie pie — but, of course, it could never do him justice!
Share this sweet rags-to-riches story and encourage more people to adopt.
