Adoption is a tremendous gift. Not only does the process of adoption allow children without loving homes to be made a part of one, but they also literally create new families. Everyone who adopts has a different reason for doing so, but the good intentions behind it are usually the same.
However, adopting a child can often be a long and rigorous process. There is just so much red tape that needs to be sorted out before welcoming a new member of the family. But one family found out the hard way that all of that red tape exists for a reason…
Adam and Jessica Davis were already the parents to four children of their own when they decided that they wanted to adopt. They felt in their hearts that giving an orphaned child a home was something they were meant to do.
The Davis family lived in Ohio, and after a quick Google search, they found an adoption agency near their home called European Adoption Consultants (EAC). They were thrilled when the agency told them they would make the perfect adoptive parents.
Adam and Jessica were over the moon. Their delight would only multiply when a five-year-old Ugandan girl named Namata was placed with them by the EAC after only a few months.
The agency didn’t give the Davises a lot of information about Namata’s life before she arrived in Ohio. All they knew was that after her father died, her mother began to seriously neglect her.
Hearing this, the Davises were under the impression that their beautiful and vivacious Namata was being badly abused in Uganda, and not receiving the sort of care, attention, or even food that she required in order to thrive.
