Rookie Cop Sees Man Face-Down On Tracks & Sprints To Save Him From Speeding Train.

Officer Kyle Savoia is a rookie cop, having only served on the Perth Amboy, New Jersey, police squad for about six months. But Kyle’s instincts seem to be perfectly suited to his career choice since he’s now credited with saving a man’s life.

On July 19, Kyle was responding to a call about a man lying face-down on the train tracks near the town’s station. The cop set out to see what was going on, spotting a man in a bright red shirt on the rails. As he approached, the officer realized there was a train coming, and it was heading straight towards the man.

Kyle’s body camera captured the harrowing moments when he burst into action, sprinting down the tracks, waving his arms frantically, and screaming at the train to stop.

“Stop the train! Move, buddy! Move! Get off the tracks!” the cop can be heard yelling, and you can see the man begin to respond to his instructions as the train gets closer.

At the very last second, miraculously, the train comes to a stop… just inches from the spot where the man had lain just seconds before.

Naturally, the officer’s first reaction was to check to see if the man was okay, quickly tending to him and asking, “Are you alright? Do you need to sit down?”

“Where did you come from? Thank you!” the panicked man says, and you can hear the terror in his voice as he realizes how close to dying he’d just come. He drops to his knees and begins to thank his hero cop over and over for saving his life.

The man was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center for further treatment, and now the rookie cop is being praised for his quick thinking and selfless actions as he ran towards an oncoming train to help a citizen in need.

“As police officers, our job is to make quick decisions in difficult situations and act on them,” Kyle said in a statement. “At the end of the day, all that matters is everyone gets home safe.” The officer later learned that the man had a young child and a family to go home to.

Kyle’s heroic actions should come as no surprise to those who know and love him. Although he’s a rookie, he’s a third generation police officer whose father and grandfather proudly served for decades before him. It seems that some calls to duty are baked right into the DNA, and thank goodness for that!
