Cruel traffickers force young girls to work in Bangladesh’s twisted brothels where they are fed steroids to look more womanly and often get hit.
Rupa is a girl that has been working in Kandipara, Bangladesh since she was just 11 years old, and she often has intimate intercourse with up to a dozen grown men a day. The local police turns a blind eye to the illegal act.
More than 400 women and children work in the brothel, as it is one of the 20 legal ones in the country.
According to Rupa, she was locked in a room for three days when she was taken in Kandipara, and she was mercilessly battered when she tried to leave. She was often fed Oradexon, which is a cow steroid that forces her body to “develop” quicker.
Prostitutes are supposed to have State Magistrate-approved certificates and to be older than 18 in order to work in such places.
The police charges around $100 for the license, and Rupa was forced to tell them that she was 18 and that she was happy to work in the brothel.
Almost 47% of the s*x workers were former young brides forced into prostitution.
They get locked up in squalid brothels and they are at risk of physical and psychological abuse, as well as contracting STDs and HIV. Men pay around $2 for ten minutes of the girl’s time, and they visit the brothels regularly (usually before they go to work).
Rupa is now 19, but she says that she still gets very scared when men force her to do things she hasn’t agreed to.
She says: “They say that they’re paying me for a service, so it’s my job to make them happy.”
Rupa was forced to marry a 30-year-old man who she had never met before when she was just 11 years old, and she says that she only felt pain when he [email protected] her that night. She didn’t even understand what was happening.
She fell pregnant very soon, but her husband lost his life in a work accident shortly after. However, her family refused to let her come home.
The ladies in the brothels claim that the human traffickers are ‘law-abiding’, even though they know that such actions are punishable by death in Bangladesh.
According to UNICEF statistics, Bangladesh has the highest rate of marriages that involve girls under the age of 15 in the world.
